Lost Planet 3 – Better than the Critics Gave it Credit For

Lost Planet the original game was a delight! Giant creatures to slay on a snow covered planet,

responsive controls and a good story. It wasn’t a smashing success, but it kept the user interest, and hence a sequel was announced. Things went pretty downhill for Capcom from there. The sequel had buggy controls and glitches, so I guess when the third part of the game was announced, gamers and critics alike didn’t put much stock in it.

The story of the third installment takes place 50 years in the past and traces the origin of the first settlers on an alien planet sent there to mine for T-Energy. T-Energy is supposedly the answer to solving earth’s energy crisis. The story is simplistic but works just fine as further down the line it unravels secrets and sub plots. The game play is interesting with putting a whole arsenal of new weaponry at the player’s disposal and introducing a cover system. There are plenty of alien bugs to squash and roaming about in the giant mech suit, which is rendered perfectly.

The game AI is fairly decent but sometimes tends to overwhelm with too many enemies on the screen. When faced with such a situation, the best option is to hightail it out of there. The most incredible and memorable phase of the game has got to be the final boss; in fact, all the boss fights are pretty immersive. The bosses can’t be defeated by simply blowing them full of holes! Oh no, you have to figure out the weakness of each individual boss to bring it down systematically.

I don’t know why the critics didn’t show this game any love and ranked it so low. It’s a huge (in every sense of the word) improvement over the previous installment.

Sony Xperia L Review

Sony introduces yet another elegantly designed Xperia L. This is the latest addition to the Xperia family after Xperia Z. The phone itself is magnificent and is a mid-range phone priced at about $250.

It is not an exceptionally outstanding phone but with a 1GHz dual-core MSM8230 processor, 1GB RAM and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean it does pretty well. It comes with a matted curved back with a glossy finish. This design is different from all the smart phones currently in the market. The edges also protect the phone in case of a fall unless dropped straight on its face. It is available in three colours; red, black and white. It is sleek and stylish and looks good to the eyes.

When compared with Xperia Z, it is slightly lighter weights at 137g but a bit thicker at 9.7mm. It has a 4.3 qHD display having a 854×480 resolution, it also has an 8GB internal storage with an additional storage capacity up to 32GB.

The camera is 8MP with the shooting ability of 1080 p HD. It comes with a backside-illuminated camera sensor. This improves the picture quality to great extent making the pictures more clear and capturing more details. The image quality is best seen so far in any Xperia phone. It works exceptionally well under low light, day light pictures are also good. Video quality, on the other hand, drops down under low light.

Sony Xperia L

All the apps work pretty smoothly with no hurdles. The android version used has been revised in order to overcome complaints and make it as smooth as possible. One of the changes is the drop-down box that lets you see the most used and the recently installed application.

Overall the phone has the ability to be among the best phones available in the market.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, The hybrid technology

On 12th of June in London, Samsung announced Galaxy S4 zoom; a hybrid that combines a camera and a phone. This is Samsung’s second attempt after the Galaxy camera based on S3. Galaxy S4 zoom combines S4 mini and a 16MP camera for those who seek to find these qualities in a single device.

As a phone it may not look so good to hold and use, but as a camera it has editorial software, a wide 24mm in 35mm equivalent lens, 10x Optical Zoom, a 16 Mega Pixel CMOS Sensor, OIS and Xenon Flash. All combined with S4 technology. It has a 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of storage memory with an additional storage capacity and also a front 1.9MP camera for video chats.

It is powered by Android jelly bean 4.2 including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. It weights more than any normal smart phone but comes with the promise of “best of both worlds”. With this hybrid technology, Samsung is targeting a niche market; users who love capturing every moment of their lives. It offers 26 different modes and with the help of editorial software and Wi-Fi connectivity sharing and editing is also made easy.

It is no doubt gracefully designed with white exterior. The price of Galaxy S4 zoom is still not announced but it is rumoured to be around $600. It will be officially available to consumers this summer.

It also features the new Samsung Hub, a library for all of the latest music, videos, books and games. Search, download and enjoy all of your favorite entertainment at the touch of a button, directly from your device.

With the new hybrid technology Samsung is hoping to make a mark on the users just like all Galaxy smart phones have done so far.

Huawei Ascend D2 Review

Huawei, a Chinese Multinational telecommunication company, has launched a high end Smartphone named as Huawei Ascend D2. It is a very sleek phone with pretty good specification. If you are looking forward to get the high end specs within the mid price range, then Huawei Ascend D2 is the best choice for you.

Corning Gorilla Glass with dust and water resistant screen same as Sony Ericson Xperia Z. You can even take this phone underwater with you.

Processor and Speed:
Huawei Ascend D2 comes with 1.5 GHZ Quad Core processor enriched with 2 GB RAM. It specs are similar to Samsung Galaxy Note 2. A very smooth and fast running processor makes the Jelly Bean to run like a rocket and you can play HD games very smoothly, through this high speed processor users can enjoy Multitasking without any Lag.

It comes with13 MP HD camera. Took photos with crisp with features of Auto focus, Face detection, Geo tagging, HDR also featuring secondary camera of 1.3MP for video calling. Although not comparable to Sony Ericson Xperia™ Z but can give a tough time
HD video recording 1080p @ 30fps with continuous flash light, a real crisp camera which captures every single moment of your choice.

Other Features:
• 32GB Internal memory
• Dolby Sound Enhancement
• 3.5 mm Audio jack
• WIFI with all levels
• Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP,LE, EDR
• Micro usb 2.0
• 3000 mAh Battery

As this phone has not yet launched globally except China, so don’t have any idea about its battery timings, overall the phone looks great, so far the main disadvantages is the Chipset in it of Huawei K3V2, because most people never had experience of that chipset, people prefer GPU Adreno , Mali, Qualcomm etc, and second is no external memory card slot, 32 GB is more than enough but users want some external memory to keep their private data portable. Huawei Ascend D2 will hit the market in the first Quarter of 2013.
