Root Galaxy Note II on Android 4.1.2

In this tutorial, you will learn how to root your Samsung Galaxy Note II running Android Jelly bean 4.1.2. Please note that this guide is only intended for International model of Note 2 i,e Samsung Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7100. Do not try this guide on any other variants of Note II.

How to root Note 2 on 4.1.2 Android Jelly bean

Before you proceed, backup all your data and charge your device to atleast 50%. Though I have tested this method on my own phone and it works 100%, still I won’t be held responsible if the method below does any damage to your device. Proceed at your own risk.

Step 1: Download and install Samsung Kies. It is only needed as it contains all usb drivers.

Step 2: Enable USB debugging by going to Settings >> Developer Options.

Step 3: Get your phone into Download mode. To do that, completely turn off your phone and then press Volume down key + Home key + Power key.

Step 4: Download Root kernel and Odin flashing tool.

Step 5: Run Odin and plug your phone into your computer.

Step 6: Click PDA button and select the root kernel file you downloaded in Step 4.

Step 7. Hit Start button to begin the rooting process.

After a minute or two, Odin will say ‘PASS’ and your note 2 will reboot. After that it will automatically go into recovery mode and perform some operation. Finally, your phone will reboot again and you will have rooted Galaxy Note 2 running Android version 4.1.2
